| The V Shantaram awards were given away on December 26 at Hotel J W Mariott and the guests included gorgeous Amrita Rao, Farhan Akhtar, Jaya Bachchan, Prachi Desai, Jimmy Shergil, A R Rehman, Ashutosh Gowarikar with wife, Ramesh Sippy, Ila Arun, Manmohn Shetty, Shankar Ehsan and Loy, Yash Chopra, Kunal Kohli, Kiran Shantaram, Vithal Kamat, Kiran Deohans, Neeraj Pandey, Amol Gupte and others.
The awards have been instituted by Rajkamal Academy of Cinematic Excellence (RACE).
The biggest names in the Indian film industry will vie for the top honours, said Kiran Shantaram, Chairman of the Academy.
RACE has over 100 veterans from film fraternity across the country as its members who select and shortlist the nominees. Based on V Shantaram's principle, films that handle social themes, provide wholesome entertainment and display novelty or exceptional talent are given a preference, Kiran Shantaram said.

A member of the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) led a batch of celebrities for religious service at the Golden Temple at Amritsar. | The Aarohi Film Society brought new-aspiring Film-Makers and Bollywood personalities together under the same roof at 2nd Annual Aarohi Film Festival 2009, which was held at Fun Cinemas, Andheri (W), Mumbai, on May 20, 2009. The Aarohi Film Festival showcased the best innovative work by independent aspiring film-makers from amongst 400 entries which were received from across the country. The Festival provided audiences with abundant opportunities to experience a film festival with difference. In addition to the three competition categories, independant short films, animation and ad-films, a special screening was conducted to showcase short films with social messages which were not part of the competition.

| It's a male-driven industry!
It is a known fact that the noted television star Prachi Desai was an Ekta Kapoor favourite and that fact that she even debuted opposite Farhan Akhtar in Abhishek Kapoor's (Tusshar & Ekta's cousin) Rock On was a plus!
It followed that Tusshar was extremely hot on Prachi and recommended her for a part opposite him in Abbas-Mustan and Studio 18's forthcoming comedy, Life Partner.
Prachi's entry meant Rimii Sen's exit. The Dhoom and Johnny Gaddar actress was being considered by the makers but all those plans went for a toss when Prachi came on the scene.
Remarks Tusshar, "It's true that I wanted Prachi in Life Partner because she fit the character really well and is a fresh face. I have no idea about someone else being considered."
Life Partner releases on August 14 by Studio 18.
