The theme of the collection was very enlightening � "The Black Lily" by Agnimitra Paul for Spring/Summer 2009 at the Lakme Fashion Week which was a tribute to those who see the world as it feels.
Visualized in net, chiffon, georgette and linen the men's and women's wear lines were only in black and white and delicately embellished with bead and thread embroidery which featured the Braille script on the front of the dresses while the alphabets and numbers were on the lilies worked on the back.
The show stopper was Bollywood star, Neetu Chandra in a white georgette shimmering skirt with a black, orange, green net and chiffon sari with beautiful embellishments.

Agnimitra Paul is known to mix fashion with a strong social message and once again she scored with her Back Lily collection for the coming season.

Her forthcoming films include a comedy ‘Khusar Prasad Ka Bhoot’, a film called ‘Mumbai Cutting’, which is about a serious issue. Then there is a film with Vipul Shah and another with Raj Kanwar.

| Reliance Big Pictures’ latest flick 13-B starring R Madhavan and Neetu Chandra, which released on 6 March in both Hindi and Tamil language versions. 13 B had a slow start at the box office. The Hindi version is doing well in Bangalore city, whereas the Tamil version Yavarum Nalam is fairing well in Chennai. Together, both the versions grossed Rs 150 - 160 million (Rs 15 - 16 crores) at the box office in the first week.

| Recently, when actress Neetu Chandra (of Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! fame) agreed to do a bold photo shoot for a men’s magazine, she hardly realised it would spark controversy and outrage from political affiliates.
Neetu, who had agreed to do hot and sexy cover for ‘The Man’ magazine, was shooting along with model Krishikha Gupta outside the lobby of a 3-star hotel, when a group of the hotel’s regular male customers watching it by the pool, suddenly started raising strong objections, by indiscriminately shouting at her and the magazine crew. But only when things spiralled into an ugly argument and the group started screaming “Jai Maharashtra” at the top of their lungs, did the magazine’s team and Neetu realise that things were out of their control.
Alleging that the shoot was promoting lesbianism, the group began getting aggressive and tried to physically harm the shooting crew. They claimed to have connections with Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and threatened an agitation. They even tried to confiscate the camera, resulting in the shoot having to be abruptly called off.
“Though the concept about two girls getting very intimate was a bit outrageous, we were doing it very aesthetically. But these men were a frustrated lot and couldn’t take the heat. They only saw nudity in our concept,” fires Neetu Chandra.
The actress explains, “First they tried to seek my attention with smiles and stares, so I acknowledged them. But as I went on with my work, the whole group of men suddenly started feeling ignored and began creating a scene. They did manage to scare me when they started to politicise the issue and scream communal slogans. That was when we had to stop the shoot.”
But now ‘The Man’ has decided to go ahead with the images they managed before the ruckus at the hotel began, raising speculation whether these sensational images will cause further problems when the magazine’s next issue hits the stands in a couple of days.

| Denying rumours that she got carried away while shooting a provocative male fantasy photo shoot for the cover of a men’s magazine, actress Neetu Chandra (of Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!) has stated, “I very much knew what I was doing and never got carried away. But if there is even an iota of doubt in anyone’s mind, let me make it clear once and for all that I am not a lesbo.”
It can be recalled that Neetu was shooting for the cover of ‘The Man’ magazine with a model outside the lobby of a 3-star hotel last week, when a group of regular male customers started shouting “Jai Maharashtra” slogans and threatened action from Raj Thackeray’s Maharashrtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). They even tried to confiscate the camera, resulting in the shoot having to be abruptly called off.
Neetu had termed them as “some frustrated men, who just wanted my attention. When they didn’t get it, they started making a scene about the shoot and threatening us.”
Now there has been talk about some activists planning to burn copies of the said magazine when its issue carrying Neetu’s images releases next week, alleging that the images have lesbian connotations. But Neetu flatly denies the charge. “It’s about two girls getting intimate to arouse male interest. And that doesn’t mean it’s about lesbianism,” she reiterates.
She says the shoot has been done so aesthetically that several Bollywood biggies have complimented her after the pictures made its way into television channels and papers even before the magazine hit the stands. “I am getting so many congratulatory phone calls, SMS’s and emails,” says Neetu and adds that even her family members in the conservative city of Patna, instead of being embarrassed, have praised the pictures.
