For Spring/Summer 2009, Raakesh Agarvwal moved away from last season’s very sharply structured black creations and brought in the beauty of feminine soft silhouettes at Lakme Fashion Week. There was romance and grace in his collection called “Summer Solstice” as fluid drapes and embroidery came together in graceful forms. Keeping to pure white Italian satin cotton, Raakesh had jumpsuits and peg dresses – both ideal for resort wear – while the fabrics moved to chiffon and georgette. The colour tones also graduated to vibrant orange and raspberry in shaded variations. The show stopper was popular Bollywood actress Chitrangada Singh in a sensational long shaded and draped orange gown.
