Creating rustic magic with their khadi and handloom garments, designers Aneeth and Chinar of GABA called their collection “Sooti”. Reflecting the local crafts of the Rabari women and workers of Kolkata the collection had comfortable loose pedal pushers, flowing smocks, tunics, dresses and blouses all layered cleverly - at times with nearly 4 garments in different colours which – were all ideal summer wear.
Presenting an all-ivory collection of dresses, Aslam Khan proved that one single colour can be used successful for a full collection. Working with detailing of a very high order for the knee length dresses, minis and long gowns in net and cotton, the pleating, pin tucks and tonal embroidery was beautifully used to cover the full garment and give it an unusual texture.
Inspired by the oceans of the world; Babita Malkani’s collection called “Coralien” paid tribute to the coral reefs of the globe. Interesting designing along with luxurious satin, georgettes, linen, chiffon and cotton were blended together in shades of blue and green with a hint of orange, pink, white and black for fluid silhouettes, billowing sack dresses and layered gowns.
